Now search any file or keyword on the internet, directly from yourstart menu without opening any browser.


You can now search any web address or keyword directly from your Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Start Menu, without opening the browser or search engine. When you type any keyword in the search programs and files field in the start menu, an additional option will be activated called search the internet. For that you need to make certain changes into your windows configuration files. However this system works on Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher.

Configuration to search any file or keyword or web address directly from the Start Menu without opening the browser or search engine.




1. Click on the Start Menu and in the Search programs and files field or from the Run window, type gpedit.msc, with which the Group Policy Editor will open.


2. Then under the User Configuration, click on the Administrative Templates and then on the Start Menu and Task bar.




3. There you will find Add Search Internet Link to Start Menu operation. Double click on the mentioned operation and select the Enable radio button and then click OK.




Once you have successfully activated the Add Search Internet Link to Start Menu operation, now what ever you type in the Search programs and files field of Start Menu, you will get an additional option Search the Internet.




After typing the keyword in the search field of the start menu, if you want to search the same keyword on the Internet, just click on the search the Internet link and search result will automatically open in the default browser of your Operating System.
